A Sweet Sixteen Bash of the Century
A Sweet Sixteen Bash of the Century
It’s that big day—sweet sixteen. However, figuring out just what to plan for your special gal or guy’s big day can be tough. If you’re leaving the planning to them, it can be tough too! Here are a few pointers to help avoid disaster:

1. Don’t make them dress up if they don’t want to. It is their birthday, first of all. Second of all, if you’re having games and food, chances are that those nice clothes might just get messed up. After all, accidents happen. All that you can do is hope they don’t happen to you! However, if they do want something more formal, then make sure to keep club soda and things of that nature to get rid of any stains that might crop up beforehand.
2. Make it clear what is going to be served. If you’re only serving snacks, then the kids need to know this so that they know to eat something beforehand. If you’re serving something heavier, then make sure to make them aware of this also so that they don’t eat beforehand. There’s nothing worse than eating before a party and then feeling bad once you get there because they had it covered. Also make sure that any allergies are noted and that either you or they have an alternative to the offending foods.
3. Try to keep the phone line clear. Phones will die after a while, especially when you need them most (It’s part of the beauty of irony.). If the kids need to make a call home, make sure that they have a way. Alternatively, you could offer to have a power strip ready in case so that the kids can charge their phones (assuming that they have one) during the party or at least get a charge for long enough to call home.
4. Send out invitations anywhere from two weeks to a month early. You don’t want to have last minute invitations that end up with no one showing up. Sending invitations a few weeks early also gives you the opportunity to send any others that may come to mind as the date draws nearer.
