Dance Party Sweet Sixteen Ideas

It doesn’t matter if you have a ballet dancer or an expert breakdancer, dance parties can be a lot of fun. All that you need is a sweet dance playlist, and then you’re good to go, right? Not quite, there are a few other things that you may want to include.

The dance area needs to be prepared before the party ever gets started. This means take any breakables and put them up or move them to a room without breakables. Move any furniture to the edges of the room and take glow in the dark stars and apply them so that the kids are able to see where they are in case they want to sit down and so that they don’t bump into it.

Also keep in mind that you don’t have to have the room completely darkened. After all, teenagers plus a dark, crowded room isn’t always the best idea. Blacklights are one option. You have enough light to discourage any making out couples and to see if someone gets hurt. Another option is tinted lightbulbs. They provide a bit more light but still make everything look cool and dance club-ish, if that makes any sense.

Make sure that you have a good playlist. This doesn’t mean that you have to have a bunch of songs about sex and violence. You can have a clean dance playlist, with minimal effort. Look into things such as the Cha Cha Slide, and Basshunter, a Swedish eurodance artist. Keep in mind he does have a few inappropriate songs, but one of his most popular songs “Dota” is about playing a video game! (Ironically, it’s also in Swedish.) You can also throw in a few tracks from Dance Dance Revolution, or anything else with a lot of good music. A few songs from Grease would be an interesting a fun decade flashback for everyone involved. It can be fun without inappropriate content.
